of SnuSa Recs and a New Year! ^_^

Hey all! First real post of the year! Woohoo! Happy Belated New Years to everyone. So my first post is just gonna be my SnuSa recs as I was pretty behind in all fests during December what with the freeze and my being sick and all. In the coming week or so, I'll hopefully have non-snupin and maybe even non-hp recs for everyone on my flist to enjoy. ^_^ More about me another post... =D These recs are based on the fact that I've read all but the last three longest fics... I wanted to get this posted so it could help in the hot recs section. Once I get a chance to read the finaly three SnuSa fics, I'll rec if they're just as delish as I hear they are. ^_^


And Days of Auld Lang Syne

Summary: After Regulus died, Severus began receiving letters from a mysterious "friend" at random intervals. Oddly enough, he also began running into Remus Lupin at similarly random intervals. As the world falls to pieces around them, can Severus trust words on parchment, or a werewolf's motives?
Why I'm reccing: While pretty much sticking to canon except for certain people surviving the wars, it's excellent. The devotion that Severus gives to at first Regulus and then Remus (while being his snarky self) is heartwarming. He's still a realist despite it all and we get to watch what he goes through after losing Regulus. His moments with Remus in the beginning still hold that old tension but it slowly transforms into something more than just a one off. And then of course the love that both Remus and Regulus have for our favorite potions master... This is a feel good fic with enough tension to keep you going. ^_^

Taste

Summary: Severus has never forgotten the taste of the honey-tasting kiss Remus gave him on a warm spring day at Hogwarts. But there is more to Remus than honey and kisses and sweetness. Severus
realises that when Albus Dumbledore wants him to play errand boy and deliver Wolfsbane to Lupin the day before full moon.

Why I'm reccing: Hot damn is it good. *_* This fic is what I would use if I had to accept DH (minus epilogue) as canon. It sticks to it and yet we still get our gloriously delicious Snupin. Severus is a right nasty git, while Remus is still the Remus we know yet not. XD It gets dirty at points and both Remus & Severus really aren't together in the way most people would like to see them together. But for them it works, and at least they get to have their bits of happieness before JKR ruined it for everyone. The writing is superb in its details and imagery.

Why I'm reccing: The two pieces of art are just gorgeous! Very
colorful and sparkly and decadent even. Love their expressions and the
details in the clothing. Plus it portrays the two in a great AU of
Labrynth. ^_^

Wedding Bell Blues

Why I'm reccing: A great little comedy romance... Not rom-com
as the comedy really comes first. But of course it's not all chuckles.
There's a bit of UST and some great characters like Hermione. It's
just such a fun read. ^_^

Remainder of their Days

Why I'm reccing: Because it's dark and bittersweet. You really
feel for Remus and Severus in their predicaments and when Petunia
comes around, you almost want to reach out and comfort her.

Summary:  Snupin like you've never seen before.

Why I'm reccing: Just like the summary says. Despite the many
ways to get around DH, how often do we get to see Severus and Remus in
their golden years? This is just plain gorgeous and sweet. And all the
little details make it worthwhile. ^_^

Five Times Lupin and Snape Should Not Have Had Sex at Order
Headquarters (But Couldn't Help It)

Summary:  The first time was rather a surprise, the second time
just plain predictable. The third was supposed to go much differently,
thank you very much, and the fourth devolved into cliché. The fifth,
moreover… well. Neither of them really wishes to talk about that one,
if you don't mind.

Why I'm reccing: Mmm, well the sex scenes are steamy, the snark
is fantastic and the side stories are entertaining and sweet. Snape
stays true to character and Remus is able to snark right back at him.
Plus I love how randy Remus is, and amenable to getting it on with
Severus despit their dispositions against each other. XD

Voyage of HMS Leviosa

Summary:   Botanical geographer Severus Snape reawakens
Lieutenant Lupin's interest in life, amongst other things.

Why I'm reccing: I love this for all it's little botanical
inclusions and choice phrasing from Severus. I really love Severus in
this, how he's so dismissive of everyone, including Remus. Yet at the
same time, he's still intrigued by the man, and wants Remus to be
better. That's another thing I liked, how Remus really didn't have a
purpose beyond just sailing the open seas, but started to aspire to
something when Severus was around. I also love all the research given
to this fic to keep it historically accurate.

Where There is Life, There is Hop

Summary:  Life after the Battle of Hogwarts isn't so easy to
deal with as all of that...

Why I'm reccing: I love how the author wrote Severus post war,
going through a depression, and not being able to see what he still
has. There's also some rather interesting interactions with a vampire,
and I like the way Remus starts to connect to Severus. My favorite bit
is the end though, which leaves you with a warm feeling. ^_^

Pith and Resin

Summary:   In the final days of the First War with Voldemort,
two damaged men meet one last time.

Why I'm reccing: Firstly, the descriptions in here is just
fantastic, you can almost smell the bitter air and taste the oily
food. You're immediately thrown into the world that Remus is in, and
feel just as befuddled as he is. It's a bit dark and gritty, and both
characters just seem pefect in their despair. Excellent writ. =D

Through the Forest Aisles

Summary:   Werewolves mate for life. Remus wishes someone had
bothered to tell him that.

Why I'm reccing: I love all the little details in this! And the
big ones too, like all the passages from various textbooks of werewolf
lore in the HP world. They work perfectly with each section of this
Marauder & First war era fic. It is a surprisingly a quick read, and
good for many more read throughs. It mostly stays light with an
undercurrent of dark, and I love the fact that Moony just doesn't give
up. =D And I love all the misunderstandings until finally the two get
it.

Once Upon a War

Summary: Severus has had a serious Muggle hobby all along to
keep himself from going crazy from the stress: he's a member of the
SCA, preferably as a fighter or fencer. A year after surviving the
battle of Hogwarts, he's shocked to see a familiar werewolf wandering
about at the Pennsic War....

Why I'm reccing: I'm amazed at how short this is, cause there's
room for so much more fun! Though that could just be me and loving
long snupins. This is a fantastic post-dh fic with Severus having such
an interesting hobby. I've never researched the SCA or participated,
but I've known about them before so it was a delight to read and see
the process. =D Excellent OCs also, and just an excellent fic overall.

Blood Moon

Summary: Prompt: "Being a werewolf, the moon is a strong
influence on Remus. It is something that controls a part of his life.
How does the moon affect Severus? What are his thoughts? Idea:
Describe the transformation and the aftermath/"morning after" from
both of their perspectives. Pre-Wolfsbane-era, post-Wolfsbane-era you
choose."

Why I'm reccing: Really, the summary doesn't do this justice.
This is a dystopian story. This is as dark as you can get, at least
through this years SnuSa, and I don't  mean that as a negative. But
fair warning, this is a Voldermort Wins scenario in one of the most
twisted ways. There isn't much hope in this, only from what a reader
can grab out of it.

Why read it? Cause it's excellent. We see it at first through Draco's
eyes, and with that we understand what's happened and how. We see
subtely and not so subtely how Draco and Severus have been affected.
And then when Remus comes into the picture... Wow. For a while there's
hope, and then you learn what killing really means in the Wizarding
World. The story is perfectly bleak. I really rec you to read it,
though maybe have a happier fic/art lined up for afterward.

What Happened to Percy

Summary: Percy was staring, and Percy got caught.

Why I'm reccing: Nothing I can say will really best define the
fabulousness of this fic, here's what I wrote in the review: "Normally
I'm not one for what I call Teacher/Student relationships (even when
all adults) but for Snupin threesomes I'll take a gander.
This? O.M.G. I think I want more Snape/Lupin/Percy. *_* That was sweet
and hot and delish and just absolutely fucking perfect! (pardon my
french XD)

I love Remus's scars and Percy's fascination with them. I LOVE Severus
in this. The wit and warmth is just right."

There's quite a bit of plot to go with the long and delish sex scenes.
Even if you're not a Percy fan or a teacher/student fan, please give
this one a try. Percy is just so excellent here. And Snape's a cad.

Know Me So Well

curls around the word, the way he bares his uneven teeth in a silent
hiss, the way his eyes fuse horror, fascination and contempt into one

monster. And in all the world, only the two of you understand.  Set
during PoA and MWPP era.

Why I'm reccing: This is a nice gritty, darkish fic. Severus is
at his best with his remarks and all his interactions with Remus are
spot on. I love the marauder scenes cause they just work so well,
making the reader want to believe in their friendship. Some rather hot
and intense scenes in this one, with fantastic imagery throughout. I
think even with all their animosity, things can sorta work out for
them after this.

Harry Dresden - Wizard

Summary: Note that Dresden's POV is in first person and
everything else is in third person. If you're a fan, you'd understand.
Dresden speaks for himself.

Why I'm reccing: Well, obviously, this fic was written for me.
The summary's not that great tho the author did their best in keeping
to my original prompt which I'm happy for. =D I love it cause I think
it does a rather seemless cross-over into the Dresden Files and I
thank the author for going out to read the first few book just so they
could fufill my first prompt.

Even without knowing that universe, I think anyone would enjoy a quick
little mystery and a glimpse into the American magicial world. The
author gets Dresden's character down rather well and I love the
interactions with Bob and Snape. It's a pretty quick read so please
take a look at it. ^_^

Not
All Gifts Come With Bows

turned upside down. In desperation he turns to the only person close
at hand.

Why I'm reccing: I love Teddy, just adore him in this. He's not
overly cutesy, he's just right. And I love how attaches himself to
Severus so easily. I also love poor Remus' struggles in parenting and
relying on Severus and seeing what they have slowly grow into
something more. I can't see anyone not liking this fic.

Then Again, Maybe "I Do"

Summary:   Remus and Severus are getting married during a major
holiday--for very different reasons. (Also, they find out that
Hermione Granger is a zealous and alarming wedding planner.)

Why I'm reccing: Another Rom-com type of fic! Though this one
is a bit more classic with a huge undercurrent of fun
misunderstandings that make you want to just shake your head at the
men. Hemione was fun in this one and I loved Minerva taking an Albus
like role with twinkling et al heheh. I just love how easily Remus and
Severus are with each other even though they really keep reading the
other poorly and not getting it till the end. Severus is daft
sometimes. XD Some excellent dialouge to boot. ^_^
